چکیده

Leakage mitigation methods are an important part of reservoir engineering and subsurface fluid storage, in particular. In the context multi-phase systems e.g., CO2 a reduction intrinsic permeability is not only parameter to influence potential flow or leakage; parameters, such as relative capillary pressure, key parameters that likely be influenced by pore-space due leakage methods, induced precipitation. this study, we investigate effects enzymatically carbonate precipitation on pressure–saturation relations first step accounting for parameters. This is, our knowledge, exploration effect thus far. First, pore-scale resolved microfluidic experiments 2D glass cells 3D sintered glass-bead columns were conducted, change pore geometry was observed light microscopy micro X-ray computed tomography, respectively. Second, geometric curves evaluated numerical drainage using pore-network modeling networks extracted from geometries. Finally, both Brooks–Corey Van Genuchten fitted determined compared with porosity average measure geometry’s The pressures increased increasing reduced porosity. For setups, relation parameterized. However, more realistic initial geometries samples, while general patterns pressure may observed, parameterization possible reduction, much higher variability distribution precipitates between experiments. Likely, additional other than will need considered accurately describe porous media.

Biotic and abiotic effects on CO2 sequestration during microbially-induced calcium carbonate precipitation.

In this study, CO2 sequestration was investigated through the microbially-induced calcium carbonate precipitation (MICP) process with isolates obtained from a cave called 'Cave Without A Name' (Boerne, TX, USA) and the Pamukkale travertines (Denizli, Turkey). The majority of the bacterial isolates obtained from these habitats belonged to the genera Sporosarcina, Brevundimonas, Sphingobacterium ...

Biological Influences on Seafloor Carbonate Precipitation

The sedimentary record reveals first-order changes in the locus of carbonate precipitation through time, documented in the decreasing abundance of carbonate precipitation on the seafloor. This pattern is most clearly recorded by the occurrence of seafloor carbonate crystal fans (bladed aragonite pseudomorphs neomorphosed to calcite or dolomite), which have a distinct temporal distribution, ubiq...

Size-dependent calcium carbonate precipitation induced microbiologically in aerobic granules

Calcium and ash accumulation in aerobic granules treating organic wastewater was investigated systematically in this study. It was found that ash content of granular sludge reached 43% at stable state of reactor operation with calcium carbonate precipitation as the main cause. Since granular sludge in the reactor at the steady state was the mixture of granules with different sizes, granules in ...

Investigating the Effect of Microbial Induced Carbonate Precipitation on Reducing Wind Erodibility of Soils in Segzi Desert Area, Isfahan

Desertification has become one of the main problems of human societies living in the vicinity of desert areas in recent years. One of the methods that have been considered in recent years and are rapidly expanding in the field of soil mechanics is the Microbial Induced Carbonate Precipitation (MICP). In this method, urea-positive organisms that are naturally present in the soil can stabilize th...
